One speech.Up to four languages.Live in the hall.

PONTAVOX is AI simultaneous interpretation for your hall: talks and panels live in up to four languages, about five seconds behind the speaker. Your guests listen on receivers with headphones, with no app and no booth.

The sound comes from the mixing desk.

The speaker talks into the lectern or headset microphone as usual. The mixing desk passes the sound to PONTAVOX, clean and without room echo. Nothing else is needed on stage.

Every language gets its own voice.

PONTAVOX interprets continuously into each chosen language. With fluent speech the interpretation runs four to five seconds behind the original, on a panel five to six. Each language speaks with one fixed voice, female or male, from the first sentence to the last.

  • DEDeutsch
  • FRFrançais
  • ENEnglish
  • ITItaliano

Other languages on request.

Hear it for yourself.

Choose a talk and a language. First you hear the speaker, then the interpretation comes in, just as on a receiver in the hall. You can switch language while the sample plays.

The figure under each language shows when the interpretation starts in this sample. Once the speech is under way it runs about five seconds behind.

Machine interpretation, unedited, synthetic voice.

Your guests do not need a phone.

Every language goes down its own cable to its own radio transmitter. Guests pick the channel on the receiver and listen on headphones. No Wi-Fi, no app and no interpreting booth.

  • One channel per languageOne transmitter per language, just like a classic interpreting system.
  • The room stays audibleWhen someone on stage speaks a channel’s language, that channel goes quiet and guests hear the room.
  • Names preparedWe enter the programme, speaker list and abbreviations in advance, so PONTAVOX does not guess names.

Built for the whole day.

A failure that goes unnoticed is worse than one you can see. That is why PONTAVOX watches over every language, and a person sits at the desk.

  • Notices silenceIf a language goes quiet while someone is speaking, PONTAVOX rebuilds it and catches up on what was missed.
  • A second path per languageIf that fails, a second path takes over until the first one is back.
  • Handover in the pauseAt long events PONTAVOX renews its connections during a pause, with no gap in the sound.
  • A technician at the deskThey see every language with its level and its distance to the speech, and step in before your guests notice.

When interpreters are the better choice.

With Swiss German on stage, debates with interruptions, negotiations and confidential content. PONTAVOX is not meant for classified content. We would rather tell you up front.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the delay?

About five seconds: four to five with fluent speech, five to six with hesitant speech and on panels. PONTAVOX starts before the end of a sentence and waits when the speaker pauses.

Which languages are possible?

Up to four at once, usually German, French, English and Italian. On stage, standard German or English. Other languages on request.

Do guests need an app?

No. They receive a receiver with headphones at the entrance and choose the channel for their language.

Does PONTAVOX work for a panel?

Yes, if everyone has their own microphone and speaks one at a time. For lively debates with interruptions, interpreters are the better choice.

What happens if a service fails?

PONTAVOX notices the silence, rebuilds the language and catches up on what was missed. If that fails, a second path takes over. The technician sees every language.

What happens to the data?

During the event the speech is sent encrypted to a specialised speech service that listens, translates and speaks. Which service it is, where it operates and what it keeps for how long is set out in our data protection sheet, on request even before the quote.

What does PONTAVOX cost?

A fraction of an interpreting team. The equipment with transmitters and receivers comes on top. For use in your own hall we will find a suitable solution together.

Is PONTAVOX proven?

Yes. PONTAVOX interprets at real events at the Eventforum Bern. We test every new version on real speeches before we use it.
